Over-Turned Trucks; Not always clear cut.

A quiet, clear summer morning brings thoughts of birds chirping, soft breezes and relaxing atmospheres.  The last thing that comes to mind is the sound of eighteen wheels locking up.  The sound of rubber screaming along the pavement, causing a fully loaded trailer to jump and slam against the ground.  The sound of cars coming to a halt is the furthest thing from your mind.  Speaking of minds, the though of "Oh no, please God don't let it happen to me" goes through the drivers mind as the truck he is in control of starts to tip over sideways. Drivers all say its all like a movie.  Its like a slow motion scene your watching from the outside.

All the driver training available cannot stop the unexpected.  Training can teach you how to deal with some situations, but even the most seasoned, experienced drivers can find themselves in an emergency maneuver gone awry.  Seconds feel like hours as you try to find an escape.  But this isn't like driving a Honda Civic.  The sheer weight of the load can overtake the most experienced of drivers skill and training.

It is said that every collision is preventable.  The scary part is, a lot of these situations are out of the drivers control before he even hooks up to his load.

Sal Fedele, President of ABC Towing explains; "I have been to countless over turned rigs that had an improperly loaded trailers that were disasters waiting to happen.  The shipper doesn't secure the load properly and seals the trailer.  All the driver knows is whats in his truck, not how it is loaded.  The driver can't break the seal to inspect it before heading out on the road."
